This course provides an introduction to the concept of software containerization, with a particular focus on its application in high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Participants will learn about Singularity/Apptainer, the most widely used container engine in HPC, and the one adopted in CONVECS and UPSCALE. The course will also briefly cover Docker, a popular containerization technology that, while not typically employed directly in HPC systems, can be used effectively through Singularity/Apptainer.
