Earth and Climate Dynamics - First Cycle Degree

Period: First Semester

Course Unit Contents: The course introduces the standard for the civil and environmental engineering use of geophysics. The most adopted instruments and techniques will be presented in order to answer the practical demanding of engineering needs, from environmental risks to hydrogeological and seismic risks. In particular the geophysics tools for seismic engineering will be discussed, from field soils characterisation to local seismic response analysis. A field trip of practical data acquisition and processing will lead students to be independent in the choice, the acquisition and the processing of the common applied geophysical techniques.
