Brief personal and professional presentation and research interests:

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Pedagogical, Educational and Instructional Sciences: Research on Inclusion, Well-being and Sustainability in Education at the University of Padova. The tentative title of my PhD research is “Cultivating sustainability Literacy: A Cross-Cultural Mixed Method Study of Pre-service teachers in Pakistan and Italy. I am working on increasing sustainability literacy among pre-service teachers through a 30-hour learner-centered, interactive, and activity-based intervention on the knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and practices of pre-service teachers in Italy and Pakistan regarding sustainability. My interests are education for sustainable development, teachers' training, sustainability literacy, and higher education. I worked as an elementary school educator for eight and a half years.

Abstract PhD project:

In the pursuit of cultivating sustainability literacy among pre-service teachers in Pakistan and Italy, this cross-cultural mixed-method study investigates the impact of a 30-hour learner-centered, interactive, and activity-based intervention. The primary objective is to understand how this intervention influences the knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and practices of pre-service teachers regarding sustainability. The research comprises three main questions and corresponding hypotheses, exploring baseline levels and the transformative effects of the intervention. Utilizing a quasi-experimental design, the study employs both quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative phase quantifies knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and practices before and after the intervention, while the qualitative phase investigates pre-service teachers' perceptions. The research, conducted in distinct educational settings in Pakistan and Italy, draws inspiration from standardized measurements and aims to provide comprehensive insights into the impact of sustainable development interventions on pre-service teachers within diverse cultural and educational contexts.
