WELCOME AND PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Welcome on board for a new adventure!
The lessons of "Genetic toxicology and Environmental chemistry" will start on 28 Feb 2022 (classroom 2G, Fiore di Botta building) simultaneously in presence and online via Zoom (dual mode for the whole duration of the course).
During the first lessons, you will be said the key to subsequently access this course in Moodle.
Currently, we follow the safety rules provided by the general security protocol for the prevention of infection from SARS-CoV-2. Access to the classroom will be allowed only to students holding the Green Pass at basic level (vaccination or buffer) or the strengthened Green Pass if there are students with 50 or more years of age. The Green Pass can be replaced by the medical certificate of exemption from vaccination.
All students of the course have to keep track of the actual attendance at each lesson by using the EasyBadge App. Once the code has been communicated, you students must enter the seat number (if present in the classroom) or the code XX (if connected online). The presences monitored with the App can be used not only for the monitoring of any COVID-19 cases but also for the counting of the student frequencies to the course (attendance for 75% of frontal activities is mandatory and allows students to enroll in the exam lists).
Lesson files will be made available by the teachers through the Moodle platform, which also permits communications and group interactions through a dedicated Forum. Video records of the lessons are optional for us teachers and previous experience suggests that their availability may translate in a decrease of direct interactions, which are fundamental to the learning process.

MORE ON THE COURSE
Six frontal teaching credits are offered in English to students with previous knowledge of Genetics and Chemistry. Principles of environmental chemistry and toxicology will be a frame of knowledge to discuss toxic agents and toxins differing in chemico-physical properties, environmental circulation and mechanism of toxicity in living organisms. The course aims at improving the student’s aptitude to recognize, correctly rank and estimate the possible risks to human health and environmental health due to old and new products, including biotechnology products. Cases of study with related investigation procedures will be offered as a basis for the development of critical thinking and new skills. After this course, the students may then reasonably attend to Bioremediation classes (2nd year, 1st semester).
