Being digital has been developed by the British Open University and is a collection of short, easy-to-follow activities on finding, using and creating information online. These develop skills which are part of what is commonly refered to as digital literacy.
Activities cover areas such as:
- Presenting yourself to best advantage online and managing your digital identity
- Making the most of online networks
- Knowing who and what to trust online
- Using Wikipedia
- Evaluating and using online tools
- Searching effectively
Each chunk of learning belongs to a pathway of activities. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete an activity.
Please start with the self-assessment pathways to get a sound grasp of where you are at with regard to these digital literacy skills. This will allow the site to propose the most appropriate activities or further pathways of activities for you to follow this week.
Please use this week's forum to share which activities/pathways you have engaged with and what your main 'take away' is. Feel free to add resources, such as links to sites, articles, podcasts, other recorded talks and presentations, etc. on Digital Literacy you know of and would like to recommend in your forum postings/contributions.
Deadline: Saturday, March 24, 11:59 pm.
