  • Welcome to the Transnational EVE Project Basic Training!

We are looking forward to working with you over the next four weeks smile

    Week 1: Step 1

Please use the Meet and Greet Forum to introduce yourself. To do so, try to think outside the box:

    Think outside the box treemagineers.com

So...instead of just writing a brief introduction to yourself, please do one or both of the following. Make and/or find:

    - a sound file (your own voice, a piece of music you like, a sound bite from a recording where someone you think highly off says something that echoes your ideas, feelings, etc.),

    - an image file (a photo of a place you like, have not visited yet, but are very much looking forward to seeing one day, an object you have created and/or that decorates you house and that is important to you, etc.).

Then attach it to a posting in the Meet and Greet Forum and tell us about you through the image/sound file, please.

If you are a speaker of English as an Additional Language, please also use this opportunity to introduce us to your language/do some of your introduction in your language and to challenge us a bit!

Deadline: Thursday, March 8, 11:59 pm.

Feel free to react to as many introductory postings/contributions by others as you wish.

Deadline: Saturday, March 10, 11:59 pm.

    Week 1: Step 2

Next, read the background doc on Virtual Exchange (VE) [shall we use the one we are currently working on with the "Groningen Group"?].

    connecting online - utep.edu

Once you have familiarised with its content,

    - tell us  in the VE Forum whether you have any experience with any of the formats of VE described in the doc, or whether you know of yet another version of VE not mentioned in the doc

    - where you see the greatest potential for VE in your current context and briefly explain why.

Deadline: Thursday, March 8, 11:59 pm.

Again, feel free to react to as many postings/contributions in the VE Forum as you wish to. It is a good way to find out what you have in common and what you can probably learn from each other about different approaches to VE.

Deadline: Saturday, March 10, 11:59 pm.

In today's digital world, the first impression people often have of us, may come from one of many of our online profiles, e.g. on an institutional website, on LinkedIn, on Facebook, etc.

The information you provide in these profiles may very well influence the impression a possible TEP partner will have of you at first glance. Therefore, we are asking you to take a mindful approach to completing a profile for this course.

    Week 2: Step 1

Click on your name below, please. The link will take you to a profiling template (a Google doc).

[list of names to be added]

Deadline: Thursday, March 15, 11:59 pm.

    Week 2: Step 2

To allow for deeper and meaningful exchanges among yourselves, you will be working in 3 groups.

Click on at least three other names in your group (TEP training fellows you have NOT yet engaged with) and take a look at their profile.

Reflect on what information they have added that you did not, and consider how useful these additions may be to developing a successful TEP partnership.

Then consider the images your partners uploaded (if they have). What additional information does this add to your understanding of them?

Post your observations and reflections in the discussion forum of your group, by starting a new thread with your name in the title for the thread.

Kindly refrain from commenting inside the individual Google docs, please.

Observations shared in the discussion forum are more easily accessible for all group members wink

Deadline: Saturday, March 17, 11:59 pm.

Being digital has been developed by the British Open University and  is a collection of short, easy-to-follow activities on finding, using and creating information online. These develop skills which are part of what is commonly refered to as digital literacy.

    Activities cover areas such as:

    • Presenting yourself to best advantage online and managing your digital identity
    • Making the most of online networks
    • Knowing who and what to trust online
    • Using Wikipedia
    • Evaluating and using online tools
    • Searching effectively

Each chunk of learning belongs to a pathway of activities. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete an activity.

Please start with the self-assessment pathways to get a sound grasp of where you are at with regard to these digital literacy skills. This will allow the site to propose the most appropriate activities or further pathways of activities for you to follow this week.

Please use this week's forum to share which activities/pathways you have engaged with and what your main 'take away' is. Feel free to add resources, such as links to sites, articles, podcasts, other recorded talks and presentations, etc. on Digital Literacy you know of and would like to recommend in your forum postings/contributions.

Deadline: Saturday, March 24, 11:59 pm.

    Idea discussed so far:

Give a couple of different challenges (i.e. a case study) per group and ask them to point out/name the challenges and suggest one or two solutions ... and we then put everything together/compile everything into a "rising to the TEP challenges" doc that everybody can walk away with.

Deadline: Saturday, March 31, 11:59 pm.
